Billy Wins First Cyclo Cross aboard Wilier

Filed under: Wilier News, Wilier Racing — Tony @ 11:04 am

Whyte racer Billy Whenman has shown his pedigree by winning his first ever Cyclo Cross race. Riding his Wilier Mortirolo machine in his first outing on the discipline, crossBilly took the experienced field apart. This is his report:
I won a Cyclo X race, under the Whyte banner yesterday! Smashed it apart! I won by a minute and forty seconds. This is how it went….

Building my Wilier Mortirolo Carbon CX bike on the Friday night, I hopped on for a quick blast to make sure it was set up the way I like it, and tyres glued on tight Then off I went to bed for an early night.

I headed off to Hillingdon for the Cyclo X race. Arriving with an hour to spare,I got changed into my Whyte kit and signed on and ready to ride. I did a practise lap, which felt good, then was on the line ready to rock and roll. I will admit I was quite nervous as it was my first cyclo cross race and I was doubting my capabilities!

The whistle went and we were off to a flying start, I took the lead from the off, and took one other rider with me. I lead for the first lap and swung over to let him have a go,  but half a lap later I pushed on through the mud, which my Continental Cyclo Cross Tubs loved, and got a gap, over the next 40 minutes I rode at a good consistent pace, never looking back,  and took the win for Whyte Racing, 1:40 ahead of second place!
